Rock River Arms Celebrates 30 Years of American-Made Performance

What began in 1994 as a small operation called Tolerance Plus, founded by brothers Mark and Chuck Larson in a two-story garage along the Rock River in Cleveland, Illinois, quickly evolved into one of America's most respected firearms manufacturers. Originally producing high-quality custom 1911 components, the company incorporated as Rock River Arms in 1996 and expanded into AR-platform manufacturing, laying the foundation for the performance-driven brand known today.

From the first custom 1911 sold in 1997 to the launch of the company's first complete LAR-15 rifles, Rock River Arms built momentum by pushing standards higher and refusing to compromise on quality. As demand grew, so did the company's manufacturing footprint, leading to the construction of its Colona, Illinois facility in 2002 and more than 30,000 square feet of expansion by 2006.

Over the last three decades, Rock River Arms has continued to evolve with the modern shooter, pioneering platforms and calibers that helped shape the industry. From becoming one of the first companies to introduce an AR-style 9mm rifle with the LAR-9, to expanding into larger caliber systems with the LAR-8, piston-driven technology with the LAR-PDS, and innovative crossover platforms like the LAR-47, RRA has consistently delivered firearms engineered for serious performance.

Today, Rock River Arms continues that legacy with a growing lineup that includes precision bolt-action rifles, modern sporting rifles, and innovative platforms designed for hunters, competitors, law enforcement professionals, and dedicated firearms enthusiasts alike. Every firearm reflects the company's core philosophy: Performance Counts.

The company's 30-year milestone also serves as a tribute to the legacy of co-founder Mark Larson, whose passion and leadership helped establish Rock River Arms as an industry leader before his passing in 2013. His influence continues to shape the company's culture, products, and commitment to excellence.

For three decades, Rock River Arms has remained proudly American-made, designing and manufacturing firearms with the precision, durability, and reliability that shooters have trusted for generations. As the company looks toward the future, its mission remains unchanged: build firearms that perform when it matters most.
