Team Beretta Shooters Top the Podium at Sporting Clays Championship

(Accokeek, MD) Team Beretta shooters recently competed at the 2018 NSCA U.S. Open Sporting Clays Championship and 2018 World All-Around Shotgun Championship in Tucson, AZ. During the concurrently held championships, our shooters achieved a total of nine podium finishes between the preliminary and main events.

From April 9th to April 15th, Team Beretta shooters Diane Sorantino, Desirae Edmunds, Anthony Matarese, Zachary Kienbaum, Jared Greenwood, Meagan Harrington, and Dominic Gross competed at the 2018 NSCA U.S. Open Championship at Coyote Springs Sporting Clays/Tucson Trap and Skeet Club alongside 900 fellow competitors.

 

Edmunds, shooting a DT11 L, secured Lady Champion honors in both the FITASC and the 12-gauge events, with a score of 95/100 and 80/100 targets respectively. She also placed third in the Ladies Main Event, with a score of 167 out of 200 birds.

Sorantino, who shoots an A400 Xcel, was right behind Edmunds during the FITASC and 12-gauge events as she achieved Runner-Up honors. Edmunds and Sorantino were separated by only 3 birds in the aforementioned events.

Sorantino also placed third in the Ladies preliminary event, after hitting 86 out of 100 targets.

Matarese achieved Runner-Up honors in the Main Event with a score or 191 out of 200 birds after a come behind effort on the final day of the competition, in which he only dropped one bird.

Our junior team members also put forth a strong showing during this competition with Harrington finishing in the top 10 for the 5-stand event. Greenwood, shooting a DT11, finished Runner-Up in the FITASC Junior event with a score of 94 out of 100 birds.

Gross also placed on the podium after finishing third in both the 5-stand and Super Sporting events.

Matarese also competed at the 2018 World All-Around Shotgun Championship. This competition boasted 52 competitors that participated in 7 different shotgun disciplines. Matarese placed in the top ten in all 7 events, which included American and International Trap and Skeet, ZZ Birds, FITASC, and Super Sporting.

“The World All-Around was a great opportunity for the best shotgun shooters of each discipline to compete against each other,” Anthony Matarese, Team Beretta member, said.

Sorantino, Team Beretta captain, provided color commentary alongside Ryan Holmes during the World All-Around for a podcast that ran concurrent with the final two days of the competition, which boasted approximately 40,000 live viewers.

The teams’ season will continue with the upcoming Western and Northeast Regional Championships. The 2018 Western Regional Championships will be held Quail Point Hunt Club and Sporting Clays in Zamora, CA from April 25 to April 29, 2018. The 2018 Northeast Regional Championships will be held at M&M Hunting Preserve in Pennsville, NJ from May 16 to May 20, 2018.
