The U.S. Concealed Carry Association Hosted Key Members of Congress to Discuss Importance of Passing National Concealed Carry Reciprocity
Congressmen Jim Jordan & Scott Fitzgerald Joined USCCA President Tim Schmidt in Wisconsin
WEST BEND, WI – The U.S. Concealed Carry Association (USCCA), one of the largest and fastest growing associations in the country, welcomed Congressman Jim Jordan (OH-04) and Congressman Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05) at the Delta Defense/USCCA headquarters in West Bend, WI on Friday, July 9, 2021.
The visit featured a firearm training and safety demonstration at a local USCCA-affiliated gun range as well as a discussion around the importance of self-defense education and training for all responsibly-armed Americans. As cosponsors of legislation to expand protections for concealed carry permit holders, the Congressmen also joined USCCA President and Founder Tim Schmidt for a conversation on safeguarding Americans’ right to self-defense, particularly by passing legislation in Congress to expand concealed carry reciprocity for all law-abiding gun owners.
“It was my honor to welcome Congressmen Jordan and Fitzgerald to discuss how we can all work together to help responsibly-armed Americans avoid danger, save lives, and keep their families safe. The fight to protect Americans’ natural-born right to self defense is more important than ever, but thankfully we have leaders in Washington who are prioritizing the rights of gun owners. I speak for all of our members at the USCCA when I say thank you for all that you both have been doing in Congress and especially, thank you for being a strong supporter for the millions of Americans who have chosen to become their family’s first line of defense,” stated Tim Schmidt, President and Founder, U.S. Concealed Carry Association.
Over the last year, more than 5 million Americans have recently purchased a firearm for the first time in an effort to protect themselves and their families. And today, the momentum continues to build. Recent reports show that June recorded the second-most gun sales ever for this month, with about 1.3 million firearm-related background checks.
The USCCA has seen a simultaneous increase in demand for firearm safety, education and training courses, reaching over 600,000 members and more than 8,000 instructors across the country in the last year alone. The USCCA is operated by one of the fastest-growing businesses in Wisconsin (Delta Defense LLC). The organization has seen unprecedented growth, including a 277% increase in new jobs created over the last several years at their West Bend headquarters. It also employs Veterans at twice the national average.
“It’s encouraging to see the success story of the U.S. Concealed Carry Association right here in West Bend from both a local economic and community safety perspective. I’ve heard from many of my constituents over the last year as we weathered community divides and a global pandemic who want their rights protected from those who wish to undermine the importance of self-defense. Fortunately, we have folks at the USCCA on the ground, educating people on the importance of being a responsibly-armed citizen while I continue the fight in Washington to protect their Second Amendment rights. There is no doubt that our work has just begun,” stated Congressman Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05).
“The Second Amendment is under attack across the United States. Democrats in Congress continue to push legislation which could threaten your ability to defend yourself and your family. Now, more than ever, it’s important that Americans stand up for their Constitutional liberties. Thankfully, the U.S. Concealed Carry Association is dedicated to protecting the Second Amendment and is working to support the hundreds of millions of responsible gun owners across our great country,” stated Congressman Jim Jordan (OH-04).
Today, more than 300,000 Americans recently signed a USCCA-led petition calling on Congress to pass national concealed carry reciprocity and the USCCA has hosted online discussions recently with both the House and Senate sponsors of this important legislation. Both Congressmen Fitzgerald and Jordan serve on the House Judiciary Committee, with Rep. Jordan also serving as the ranking Republican, and both are also cosponsors of H.R. 38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act.
