GPO Sponsored Shooters Head to ASA Pro/Am Shoot

RICHMOND, Va. —German Precision Optics (GPO) USA is proud to announce that its stable of sponsored shooters will be heading to the ASA (Archery Shooter’s Association) Mathews & Tru Ball Pro/Am shoot in London, KY June 25-28. The event will be the first sanctioned shoot held since the Covid 19 pandemic forced cancellation or postponement of several previously-scheduled events. GPO-USA is the official optics sponsor of the ASA.

“Thanks to the efforts of the London-Laurel Tourist Commission, Health Department, and Laurel County Judge Executive David Westerfield, we have received permission to hold the event,” the ASA said in a press release announcing the resumption of sanctioned shoots. “As part of this approval process we will be implementing changes to our usual Pro/Am calendar and instituting procedures to comply with the state of Kentucky guidelines for the safety and health of our attendees.”

“As a proud corporate sponsor of the ASA, we are very excited to be getting back to some sort of normal in our lives, and this shoot will be a great way to kick things off,” said GPO Owner/CEO Mike Jensen. “We have five highly-accomplished sponsored shooters competing in this event, any of which could win their respective divisions.” GPO shooters competing in this event include:

Jack Wallace: Jack started shooting archery when he was seven years old with the help of his dad. He loved the unknown 3D archery game and how it helped prepare him for hunting situations, teaching him how to calm his nerves and take a steady shot. Jack continued to excel, so he turned Open Pro in 1995 and hit the 3D circuit. One year later he won his first ASA tournament in the Pro division. Jack has won every major national, world, and shooter of the year title 3D archery currently offers.

Sharon Wallace: Sharon won 2020’s last sanctioned ASA shoot in February, the Hoyt Pro/Am, after a shoot-off with two other archers. Sharon, who has been competing at the professional level for 13 years, added this trophy to her collection that includes wins such as two-time Archery Shooters’ Association (ASA) Shooter of the Year, two-time International Bow Hunting Organization (IBO) World Champion, three-time IBO National Triple Crown, two-time IBO “Shooter of the Year” and ASA Classic Champion.

Duane Price: Professional Archer Vegas Champion, NFAA National Champion, NAA National Champion, World Cup Team Member and Bronze Medalist, 1st 30x at Vegas, 1st 600 at Atlantic City. Duane Price is a talented Senior Pro class archer who started shooting at the early age of five. At age 32 he began to take it more seriously and began travelling nationally for competitions. After winning Vegas in 1999, he turned pro, winning his first pro shoot, the Louisville Expo. His passion was ignited from then on and he has been competing professionally ever since. He has many titles under his belt, including a perfect score at Vegas in 2001, Shooter of the Year titles, and Atlantic City 600 in 2002. Over the last 5 years he has over 40 top 3 finishes. Currently he is competing in all Indoor, NFAA, ASA and IBO events.

Alex Wifler: Alex began shooting a bow at age 11, shot his first Vegas Shoot just nine months later, and ended up taking third at NFAA Nationals his first year. He’s the youngest winner of the Vegas shoot, in 2015 at age 20, defeating archery legend Levi Morgan in a shoot-out. He currently holds world records for Junior Compound Individual, Junior Team, and Senior Team.

Nshan Thompson: Nshan began shooting a bow at age nine. He has won over 20 state and sectional titles, both indoors and outdoors. He’ a 4X winner and 3X runner-up in the K-50 class, and, at age 17, was the 1997 Indoor National Champion.

“All of us at GPO-USA are super excited to watch Jack, Sharon, Duane, Alex, and Nshan compete in the upcoming Kentucky ASA event,” Jensen said. “After months of being locked down, the atmosphere will be electric, and we know they’ll rise to the challenge.”
