Rarest Colt Firearms of the Year Anchor Collector’s Elite Auctions Premier Event

Collector’s Elite Auctions and the Bryant Ridge Company are proud to kick off its Premier Event, a special two-week auction that opens November 23 and concludes the evening of December 7. This exclusive offering presents a single collector’s private Colt collection that ranks among the finest and most meticulously curated Colt collections to reach the market in years.

The consignor spent more than three decades pursuing only the highest quality examples while continually upgrading pieces as better specimens were discovered. The result is a tightly focused collection with immaculate condition across the board, exceptional provenance and many factory boxes and Colt archival documents.

“This seller focused on finding the best of the best and it shows in every piece,” said Eric Pruner of Bryant Ridge, the trusted partner behind this Premier Event. “It is a rare opportunity for collectors to acquire firearms that have been cared for at the highest level for decades.”

Below are five standout items featured in the auction.

Colt Python 2.5 Inch Royal Blue, 1976

This 1976 two-and-a-half-inch Colt Python is one of the most desirable configurations in the entire Python line. Finished in Colt’s legendary Royal Blue and accompanied by its original box and Colt factory letter, this revolver carries extraordinary provenance.

It spent years on display inside Colt headquarters in the offices of the Custom Services Manager and the Colt Chairman.

Its time within Colt’s executive display collections ensured it remained untouched and meticulously preserved. For collectors searching for a Python with both condition and a compelling Colt story, this example stands alone.

Colt Gold Cup Elite in .40 S&W

The Gold Cup Elite series represents the pinnacle of Colt 1911 craftsmanship, and this .40 Smith and Wesson variant is one of the rarest examples. Manufactured in 1991 with a limited run of only 250 pistols, this two-tone model pairs a deep polished blue slide with a stainless frame.

The pistol remains unfired and includes its original case and paperwork. The unusual .40 S&W chambering adds significant scarcity, making this one of the toughest Gold Cup Elite pistols to locate in top condition. For collectors completing a caliber set or searching for a seldom-seen Gold Cup, this is a premier opportunity.

Colt Single Action Army

This fully engraved Single Action Army showcases the work of master engraver Dennis Kies, whose hand-cut artistry represents traditional engraving at its finest. Chambered in the desirable .44-40 and built with the classic seven-and-a-half-inch barrel, this revolver blends iconic Colt form with museum-quality embellishment.

Ivory grips with Colt medallions complete the aesthetic, and the revolver’s deep blue finish provides stunning contrast to the hand engraving. It is a centerpiece-level SAA suited for display under glass and represents one of the strongest engraved offerings in the entire event.

Colt “Double Diamond” Set

Produced in 1986 for Colt’s 150th anniversary, the Double Diamond set pairs a six-inch Royal Blue Python with a compact Colt Officers ACP 1911. Only 1,000 sets were produced, and many have been separated over time.

This set, number 803, remains complete with its original boxes, factory display case and factory documentation.

The Python features silver Colt medallions in its rosewood stocks and carries the double diamond marking on the barrel. The Officers ACP includes matching medallions and anniversary markings. Few complete surviving sets appear on the market, and even fewer remain in this level of preserved condition.

Colt Single Action Army Screwless Frame

One of the rarest Single Action Army configurations ever produced, this factory screwless frame SAA represents one of approximately 100 manufactured. The revolver is further elevated by factory Class D expert-level engraving performed by master engraver John Adams Sr.

Chambered in .44-40 with a seven-and-a-half-inch barrel and finished with striking ivory stocks, this example exemplifies upper-tier Colt artistry and rarity. It is accompanied by its Colt letter, factory box and hard case. For advanced Colt collectors, this revolver represents a pinnacle acquisition.
