HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College’s John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center hosted a Para Trap Grand Prix June 23-26. Sophia Bultema ’26, a member of the Hillsdale College Shotgun Team, took home a silver medal.

“Despite having physical disabilities, para trap athletes compete in the same bunker trap as their Olympic counterparts — and often rival their scores,” said Range Manager Matt Little. “It is an honor for the Halter Center to host these determined athletes and give them a platform for world-class competition.”

Bultema took silver in PT3 Mixed Trap Standing Upper Limb, breaking 100 out of 125 targets in the qualification rounds and placing second in the final. Bultema is also the Junior World record holder in para trap and the only woman to make a World Cup final.

“The goal is to see para trap included in the Paralympics,” Little said. “This will unlock broader funding opportunities for para trap athletes and allow them to compete in the 2028 games in Los Angeles.”
