Collectors Elite Auctions is proud to unveil its December lineup, a carefully curated selection of scarce and investment grade firearms chosen for discerning collectors. This month’s offering highlights extraordinary examples from Colt, GLOCK and Smith & Wesson, each representing the type of rarity, provenance and condition that define true collector level acquisitions. Every item begins at one penny with no reserve, giving buyers a rare opportunity to secure museum worthy pieces that seldom appear on the open market.
Among the standout offerings are a genuine first-generation GLOCK 17L with matching case, a fully complete Smith and Wesson 500ES Survival Kit in astonishing condition, the elusive Colt Custom Shop Magnum Carry First Edition, and a New Old Stock Colt 1991A1 Limited Edition Tiger. Each example is presented with exceptional photography and comprehensive documentation to assist collectors in evaluating authenticity, mechanical integrity and investment potential.
Below are several highlight pieces from the December event.
GLOCK 17L Gen 1 Long Slide with Matching Case
Few modern pistols inspire the same level of collector interest as the first-generation GLOCK series. The long slide 17L occupies a particularly coveted niche. Introduced in 1988 during the final months of Gen 1 production, the 17L was engineered for competition and precision shooting and built on the original pebble textured polymer frame that helped establish GLOCK’s global reputation.
Only a small group of documented serial prefixes are associated with true Gen 1 17L pistols. Their limited production and transitional status have elevated them into one of the most desirable early GLOCK variants. This example features the extended 6.02-inch barrel, the signature lightening cut and matching serial numbers on the slide and frame. The barrel is correctly numbered L433. The pistol shows superb condition with only minimal signs of handling. It is offered with its factory labeled case and a period correct 17 round magazine.
Smith and Wesson 500ES Short Barrel Survival Kit
The Model 500 holds a permanent place in firearms history as one of the most powerful handguns ever produced. Built on the purpose designed X frame to manage the extreme pressures of the .500 S&W Magnum cartridge, the revolver pairs engineering innovation with brute capability. The short barrel ES variant elevates this legacy through its inclusion in a factory survival kit that has become highly prized among collectors.
This example presents in astonishing condition and includes the complete S&W branded Storm case and all survival contents. The kit contains a heavy-duty folding knife, fire starting tools, two emergency blankets, a compass, a signal mirror, a rope survival saw and a copy of Bear Attacks of the Century. The revolver itself features the distinctive orange Hogue grips, a 2.75-inch barrel and adjustable rear sight. Kits of this completeness and condition seldom appear at auction and remain a premium opportunity for both collectors and enthusiasts of extreme handgunning.
Colt Custom Shop Magnum Carry First Edition
Among modern Colt double action revolvers, few models command greater admiration than the Magnum Carry. Produced only briefly as Colt faced significant structural changes, the revolver represented a final push to modernize the company’s small frame lineup with true .357 Magnum capability. The First Edition guns occupy an even higher tier due to their early production status and distinctive barrel roll mark.
This example features polished stainless steel, genuine stag grips with Colt medallions and the correct First Edition markings. The revolver’s short two-inch barrel, full underlug and strengthened frame made it one of the most advanced small frame magnum revolvers Colt ever produced. First Edition examples have achieved near mythical status in the collecting community due to their scarcity and their role as Colt’s last newly introduced double action model. This specimen stands as a premium acquisition for any Colt focused collection.
Colt 1991A1 Limited Edition Tiger
Produced in 2005 as a TALO distributor exclusive, the Colt 1991A1 Limited Edition Tiger blends traditional Government Model architecture with Custom Shop artistry. Only 200 were manufactured. The pistol features a matte blue finish, gold etched jungle tiger artwork across both sides of the slide and a serpentine Colt motif that accentuates the commemorative theme. Zebra wood double diamond stocks complete the presentation.
This example is New Old Stock and shows no signs of consumer handling. It includes the original Colt Custom Shop box and all associated contents. For collectors seeking a rare and visually striking 1911 with limited production provenance, few opportunities exceed the Tiger series.
