Polite Society Podcast Joins SAF Family

BELLEVUE, WA – The Second Amendment Foundation today announced that the popular “Polite Society Podcast” has joined the SAF family, and the annual Second Amendment media workshop, known as AMM –Con (for Alternative Mass Media Convention), is henceforth a “Project of SAF,” according to Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb.

Polite Society founder and host Paul Lathrop has joined SAF as Deputy Director of New Media, Gottlieb said. Lathrop will also be a contributing editor to TheGunMag.com, SAF’s online daily news publication.

“This is really a tremendous opportunity for both SAF and the Polite Society Podcast,” Gottlieb said. “The timing could not be better, and we’re looking forward to accomplishing some remarkable things, not just in the days ahead, but far into the future.”

Lathrop started the Police Society Podcast more than eight years ago as “The Politics and Guns Podcast.” Over the next 18 months, he gradually added some co-hosts to improve the conversation and include some interviews to attract a larger audience. In 2014, the program was rebranded to “Polite Society Podcast,” and it has remained for the past six years. Lathrop and his cast have covered several Gun Rights Policy Conferences live, and he is one of the founding members of the Self-Defense Radio Network.

“For almost nine years my passion has been advocating for Second Amendment rights,” Lathrop said. “With this opportunity I can now work on making a difference all day long rather than when I have a spare hour or two. I am so very excited to come on board with an organization that I have always greatly respected and occasionally been able to work with. This really is a dream opportunity for me.”

Now in its fourth year, the AMM-Con gun rights media workshop will continue as a SAF project in which, according to Gottlieb, individuals in Second Amendment media will learn about improving their efforts and message. He said one new feature will be The Daily Bullet, a daily 15-minute video that will highlight activists in the Second Amendment movement. There will also be a Weekly Bullet, an additional SAF podcast with a roundup of weekly news and views.

“We’re about to enter a new realm for SAF,” Gottlieb said. “We’ll be even more active, taking on a greater leadership role than we’ve ever done before in the Second Amendment community. Fasten your seatbelts!”

The Second Amendment Foundation (www.saf.org) is the nation’s oldest and largest tax-exempt education, research, publishing and legal action group focusing on the Constitutional right and heritage to privately own and possess firearms. Founded in 1974, The Foundation has grown to more than 650,000 members and supporters and conducts many programs designed to better inform the public about the consequences of gun control.
