FPC Files Federal Lawsuit Challenging Maryland "Glock Ban"

Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) filed a new federal lawsuit, NRA v. Moore, after Maryland Governor Wes Moore signed legislation to ban semiautomatic handguns with a cruciform trigger bar, which includes nearly every Glock and Glock-style pistol on the market. FPC is seeking a permanent injunction against the enforcement of the ban as well as other relief.

The plaintiffs challenging the ban include the National Rifle Association and the Second Amendment Foundation. The plaintiffs are represented by Nicole J. Moss, David H. Thompson, Peter A. Patterson, and William V. Bergstrom of Cooper & Kirk, PLLC.

The complaint was filed on May 26, 2026. Likely next steps include an answer from the defendant and a briefing schedule from the District Court.

The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland.

Maryland's ban unconstitutionally prohibits the exercise of rights protected under the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution by banning the acquisition of some of the most popular firearms in the country.

"Maryland's politicians just declared war on an entire class of constitutionally protected handguns and the peaceable people who want to own them. This ban is immoral, unconstitutional, and tyrannical. FPC and our Grassroots Army are going to force Maryland to respect the Second Amendment, full stop." - FPC President Brandon Combs.
