Robert R. Reese, 87, of Geneseo, Illinois, founder of Springfield Armory, passed peacefully Saturday, June 22, 2019. He’d resurrected the "Springfield Armory" name, and in doing so, preserved iconic and historically significant firearm designs such as the M1 Garand, the US M14, and the 1911 pistol.
Editor-in-Chief Linas Cernauskas, Athlon Outdoors, advised of the passing of Denis Prisbrey. He was a well-respected writer for several gun and outdoor magazines. He was a Vietnam-era veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a police officer and weapons instructor for the West Valley City Police Department.
Ron E. Avery, co-founder of the Tactical Performance Center in St. George, UT, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2019, after a long battle with cancer. He was a former police officer, as well as a recognized researcher and world-class shooter, winning many local, state, national and international competitions.
