Team Beretta Shooters Compete At 2018 Gator Cup

(Accokeek, MD) Members of Team Beretta recently competed in the 2018 Gator Cup at Quail Creek Plantation in Okeechobee, FL. Our shooters achieved a total of 10 podium finishes between the preliminary and main events.

This premier event featured over 700 competitors from six different countries. The Beretta team members in attendance at this event were Diane Sorantino, Desirae Edmunds, Zachary Kienbaum, and Bruce Ney.

Sorantino, shooting a Beretta A400 Xcel, topped the podium in the FITASC Lady event with a score of 88 out of 100. She also placed third in the Gator Cup Lady event with a score of 171 out of 200 birds.

All of our shooters participated in the multiple preliminary events at Gator Cup. Sorantino received a second-place podium finish in Friday’spreliminary blue event with a score of 82 out of 100.

Edmunds, who shoots a DT11 L, secured two first-place podium finishes and one second-place finish in preliminary events, posting the same score of 90 out of 100 targets for both high overall finishes. Her second-place finish in Thursday’s preliminary event was obtained with a score of 83 out of 100.

Edmunds donated a .45 caliber Beretta PX-4 Storm handgun that she received as a part of a drawing during a hosted dinner at the competition. She asked that the pistol be donated to the Quail Creek Young Guns Youth Shooting Club. The Young Guns of Quail Creek, founded in 2008, promote and teach a sporting clays target program to a group of kids ranging from 3rd through 12th grade.

“Edmunds displayed a great deal of sportsmanship in promoting the Beretta Brand with her donation,” Sorantino, Team Beretta captain, said.

Kienbaum, shooting a Beretta SO5, secured a third-place finish in the main Gator Cup event with a score of 192 out of 200 targets. He also took another third-place finish in Friday’s preliminary blue event with a score of 97 out of 100.

Ney, a senior member of Team Beretta who shoots an A400 Black, placed runner up in the Senior Super Vet categories of Friday’spreliminary blue and red events with scores of 79/100 and 83/100, respectively.

Ney also secured a third-place finish in the 5 Stand SR Super Vet competition with a score of 31 out 50.

“[For it] being the largest non-championship tour event of 2018, the level of competition [at the 2018 Gator Cup] was as high as any shoot in America,” Kienbaum commented.

The team’s shooting season will continue with the US Open competition on April 8-15th at Coyote Springs Sporting Clays in Tucson, Arizona.
