American Handgunner Nov/Dec Issue Displays The Cylinder & Slide Ruger 1911/.22 Combo
Readers looking to reap the benefits of a full-size 1911 in .45 ACP and .22 LR without a conversion kit will appreciate the cover story for the November/December issue of American Handgunner. Editor Roy Huntington and Bill Laughridge of Cylinder & Slide dreamed up an accomplished 1911/.22 combo kit - a Ruger SR1911 and a Ruger 22/45 - and customized this team to near-perfection.

"A bit of final shooting using top-line Federal Gold Medal Match showed the 22/45 did, indeed, deliver solid 1-inch 25-yard groups. Could a 2-pound pull have delivered something better?" Huntington questions. "Maybe with a scope mounted, but with the fiber optic sights, I don't think you're going to do any better than this."

With the rousing question "What would James Bond do?" Will Dabbs investigates the Umarex Walther PPK/S .22, detailing the gun fit for any "hopeful" secret agent.

"The Walther PPK/S .22 is an exceptionally neat plinking pistol. There's countless other personal-defense options in more effective calibers, but should your day-to-day iron sport a single-action/double-action trigger, the PPK/S .22 makes for an outstanding trainer," Dabbs concludes.

With the holiday season just around the corner, this issue features the 2013 Grunt's Gift Guide. Contributing editor John Connor details the best items to include in gift packages for troops overseas and also highlights the charitable work of, connecting civilians with soldiers in need.

The November/December issue of American Handgunner also highlights Mike "Duke" Venturino's endorsement of "Slow and Easy" handguns for seasoned gun guys, Mark Hampton's rundown of varmint handgun hunting and J.B Wood's look at the Taurus PT 809.

A Custom CorBon Glock 17 highlights the November/December Gun of the Month giveaway. This package also includes the Bad Blood Dreadnaught Knife, the Echo-Sigma Survival Kit, Etymotic Electronic Earplugs and the Savoy Holster. Handgunner readers will have the chance to win this package, valued at over $2,544, by simply entering online at
