HIPERTECH Bulletin #4

This white paper describes the influence that the magnitude of trigger creep has on the “feel” of trigger pull. The pull weight parameter alone ignores creep. But creep and pull weight cannot be considered independently of one another. The trigger pull experience, what our minds perceive, includes both simultaneously. Work or energy as used in the engineering sciences, is the combined "feel;" we can also call it the effort we must exert to drop the AR15/10 hammer. Most shooters would agree that the less energy consumed by pulling the trigger, the better the trigger feels. In short, it's less work; our trigger is more responsive to our trigger finger: more trigger control, more accurate shot timing, and placement. HIPERTECH #4 goes into the energy calculation details using the trigger scans presented in HIPERTECH #3. This new parameter is a much more accurate measure of trigger feel than weight alone, or a description of creep alone, whether subjective or by objective measurement. The white paper ranks all 35+ triggers tested by this pull energy parameter. The rankings shouldn't surprise anyone who has experience with any number of them. Purchasers who are unfamiliar with any after-market AR trigger would benefit from reading from this series of articles. Find them at www.hiperfire.com/hipertech .
