Remington 870 Tactical DM In March GUNS

Built on a platform essentially unchanged for 60-plus years, the Remington 870 DM combines the established functional reliability of a classic scattergun shotgun with the speed-loading abilities of a magazine-fed gun. Detailed in the March issue of GUNS Magazine, Editor Brent T. Wheat’s session with the new-old gun delivered a few surprises and re-acquaintance with its familiar features.

“The Remington 870 DM is built on a proven, reliable chassis and it’s now faster to reload thanks to the box-magazine modification. There were no surprises, not much adaptation and little fumbling — but those are all positive things when you’re talking about a firearm whose primary purpose is to keep your own tender epidermis wholly intact,” he lends.

Looking for a maneuverable home-defense gun to take all the ambiguity out of an exchange of gunfire? The Lone Wolf AlphaWolf Pistol Caliber Carbine could be it. Will Dabbs, MD, runs the black-rifle beauty through its paces and finds the overall experience “positively recreational.” Will proposes the accurate, reliable and cool .45 ACP is “a fresh new take on the thorny question of personal defense in an urban setting.”

Born to hunt, a Mossberg Patriot Predator Rifle tops the March Gun Giveaway Package. Dressed in TrueTimber Strata camo and chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor, the Patriot Predator features an adjustable trigger, fluted and threaded 22-inch barrel and top-mount Picatinny scope rail. An Emerson Knives CQC-15, MEC Marksman from MEC Outdoors and Operator Pen and Aluminum Carabiner from Tuff Writer round out the exceptional group of prizes valued at nearly $1,150. There’s more inside the pages of March GUNS; the Air Power column advocates high-tech airgun training is the neat, discreet and realistic weaponized version of dry-fire practice.
