(Grand Island, Nebr.) — Hornady Match ammunition continues to prove its mettle on the competition range with the latest victory coming at the MGM Targets Ironman Long Range Challenge.

Greg Hamilton, a weapons test specialist with PROOF Research in Columbia Falls, Montana, won the Precision Rifle Series Gas Gun match on July 8 and 9 in Parma, Idaho, shooting factory-loaded 6mm Creedmoor 108 grain ELD Match ammunition.

"I felt very fortunate to get the open division and overall match win with factory ammo," Hamilton said. "The factory ammo is doing everything it's supposed to do with zero hitches throughout the entire match."

"The ammo ran solid with ambient temps at 105 degrees in the shade," he said. "There were plenty of ammo, firearm and gear issues for other competitors with the heat and dust blowing around, but this kept running smooth through practice and both match days."

Hamilton said his fiancée, Stephanie Shomperlen, also shot the match and "had nothing but smooth running with the factory 73 grain ELD Match through her 223."

The Hornady ammunition brought Shomperlen the high score among the three women competing, and she also bested 40 percent of the men competing.

Team Hornady shooter Bennie Cooley finished 5th in the Open division shooting 6.5 Creedmoor 140gr ELD Match ammunition.
