Vista Outdoor Seeks National Account Manager

The Position

Vista Outdoor is seeking a National Account Manager to add to our team to support a large retail partner. This role will be based in Colorado or Nebraska.

Responsibilities

  • Meet established objectives relative to increased sales volume in assigned accounts. Assist in developing long-range strategies designed to meet increasingly aggressive objectives.
  • Prospect possible new accounts. Maintain ongoing contact with probable new customers.
  • Develop strong working relationships by coordinating and providing the best possible client experience for our retail clients.
  • Develop and present programs and ideas to management for sales growth on brands and product categories.
  • Respond to customer problems and complaints according to established company policy. Follow through to ensure issues are satisfactorily resolved. Suggest new procedures or programs to prevent continuing problems/complaints.
  • Seek out and maintain information regarding competitors' activities through the territory. Maintain a well-informed knowledge of competitors' activities throughout the assigned territory. Inform Sales Management of any changing competitive pricing programs or marketing directions. Suggest means for Vista to respond to market trends or changing competitive tactics.
  • Develop an understanding of the product market to create business action plans for achieving sales targets as well as forecast by category, customer and channel.
  • Attend and actively contribute to sales meetings, training programs, trade shows, shoots, and other activities as assigned by Director or VP of Sales. Suggest other forums for publicity and visibility for the company, and arrange participation, if approved.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records relating to sales performance, planning, account information, business expenditures, etc., as required. Operates within expense budget.
  • Perform other related duties including special projects as the need is apparent or as assigned.
  • Work with marketing teams to come up with specific campaigns to grow Vista business.
  • Work with supply chain to accurately forecast current sales trends to ensure we meet the customer demands.
  • Travel up to 50% (primarily driving and also flying)


Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • BA, BS in Marketing or related field or equivalent work experience
  • MA/MS preferred
  • 5+ years' experience in the outdoor products industry
  • 3+ years account manager experience; national or chain accounts
  • Understanding of the technology and marketing and operational trends of the retail market
  • Experience in the hunting, shooting or sporting goods industry
  • Long and short term analytical skills including potential problem analysis and risk analysis/mitigation planning and forecasting
  • Sound leadership, communication and business math skills
  • Ability to work well independently with little supervision
  • Willingness to travel - up to 50% (primarily driving and also flying)
