Federal Announces 2015 Tom Knapp Memorial Scholarship Winners

ANOKA, Minnesota –– Federal Premium® Ammunition and Champion® Traps & Targets are thrilled to announce and congratulate the winners of the 2015 Tom Knapp Memorial Scholarship. Four recipients from Minnesota each won a $2,500 college scholarship: Emma Olson of Saint Michael, William Schroeder of Brandon, Jack Barsody of Onamia, and Dannyelle Moon of Ham Lake.

Olson will use her award toward studying biology and pre-med at Grinnell College.
She attended St. Michael-Albertville High School and was named first place female high average in the Minnesota State High School Clay Target League. Schroeder will study animal science at North Dakota State University. He was on the 2014 all-state clay trapshooting team at Brandon-Evansville High School. Barsody will study pre-med at St. John's University. He was a clay trapshooting state tournament participant from Milaca High School. Moon will study environmental education at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. She was captain of her trapshooting team for two years and the female trapshooting top gun for three years at Blaine High School.

The scholarship program was created to honor legendary exhibition shooter Tom Knapp, who passed away in April 2013. With the support of his wife Colleen, Champion extended Knapp's licensed products program to fund the scholarship. The 2015 scholarship winners were chosen from applicants within the Minnesota State High School Clay Target League. The program carries on Knapp's work as an ambassador and teacher who inspired an entire generation of new shooters.

Eligible applicants were high school seniors who actively participated in at least two seasons on a Minnesota State High School Clay Target League team and planned to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year school. They were required to have a 20 cumulative average from all clay target competitions, with at least a 3.25 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).
