Doug Koenig Championship Season: Scottish Red Stag

Hamburg, PA., - Jagged coastlines, castles, misty damp mornings and hillside glassing set the backdrop to this week's show as Doug travels to the remote town of Argyll, Scotland, located on the west coast near the Ardnamurchan peninsula. Head Stalker and Sporting Manager, Niall Rowantree of West Highland Hunting, guides Doug through the vast swales of the unspoiled mountainside for a majestic Scottish Highland Red Stag.

Doug and Niall set out in a Mudd-Ox vehicle for a late afternoon stalk, when unexpectedly the weather conditions change. As low-lying fog and misty rain move in, visibility is reduced on the mountainside and cross winds now prevent a clear line of sight. Glassing a particular mature Stag that has grouped up with other hind, Niall's signals to Doug to lie and wait for the opportunity to present itself.

Tune in to see Doug's traditional Scottish Red Stag hunt and take in the dramatic coastal and mountain scenery of the Scottish Highlands. Show teaser: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2l88Uedd4k&feature=youtu.be

Doug commented, "On so many levels, this was a larger than life hunting experience for me-particularly spending time with Niall." Doug added, "Exchanging hunting stories, preferred loads and learning how Niall manages the herd on these hunting estates was a great part of this trip. I'll definitely be returning to the Scottish Highlands again."
