MGM's Multi-Generational Gibsons Rock East Coast Match

The 2014 FNH USA 3 Gun match landed at Peacemaker National Training Center outside Glengary, West Virginia Sept. 18-20.

Over 300 top shooters gathered to compete in 9 challenging stages including stages, some of which required using all three guns, shooting targets across a dry creek bed, long range targets out to 440 yards, shooters also slid down a slide to engage pistol and shotgun targets after engaging rifle targets from on top of a shipping container. In addition to the competition, there were opportunities to shoot firearms provided by event host, FNH USA.

MGM Team shooter, and vice president, Travis Gibson took the Open win, and 3rd place and high junior was won by Travis' son, Wyatt Gibson who continues to impress and outperform many veterans in just his third season of serious competition. Team MGM shooter Mark Roth took 7th place in Open. Another outstanding junior shooter, Nate Staskiewicz finished an impressive 28th out of 268 competitors in Tactical Optics.

From the 345 registered shooters, top overall scores featured Team shooter Greg Jordan with Overall Combined win, father and son Travis and Wyatt Gibson in 6th and 12th respectively as well as MGM team shooter Dean Deturk in 9th place. Team FNH was on hand for assistance and to compete. Other notable finishes included Eric Lund and Shooting USA's Scott McGregor who took 1-2 in HM Optics while Armalite president Tommy Thacker and FNH shooter Mark Hannish placed 8th and 17th in Tac Optics. FNH's Larry Houck placed 5th in Tac Limited.

Following the FNH match, Travis Gibson commented, "The scores are tallied and when the dust settled I got my first major match win at the FNH USA championships in West Virginia. While I'm pretty happy about that, I think I'm more proud of the fact that Wyatt won high junior and finished only 30 match points behind me taking 3rd place in open."

That afternoon, The Gibson family traveled to New York for the USPSA Long Island Championship, where among 138 shooters where they finished one, two with Wyatt taking the match win. The elder Gibson stated "The stages were very technical but a lot of fun...Wyatt took the overall win and I was second by just a few match points. Great weekend!"
